Low Blood Sugar and High Blood Sugar: Know the Basics!

Blood sugar levels are important for our health. Let’s talk about two conditions that affect them: low blood sugar and high blood sugar. In this blog, we’ll learn about their signs, causes, and easy ways to manage them.

I. Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia):

Signs of Low Blood Sugar:

  • Feeling shaky or dizzy
  • Sweating and confusion
  • Fast heartbeat and mood changes
  • Tiredness and blurry vision

Causes of Low Blood Sugar:

  • Taking too much medicine or insulin
  • Skipping meals or doing intense exercise
  • Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach

Managing Low Blood Sugar:

  • Have some juice or candy (15-20g carbs).
  • Wait 15 mins and check blood sugar.
  • Repeat if needed, then eat a small meal.

II. High Blood Sugar (Hyperglycemia):

Signs of High Blood Sugar:

  • Peeing often and very thirsty
  • Feeling tired and blurry vision
  • Always hungry and dry mouth

Causes of High Blood Sugar:

  • Not enough insulin or eating too much sugar
  • Stress, sickness, or not moving enough

Managing High Blood Sugar:

  • Check blood sugar and follow advice.
  • Adjust meds as told by the doctor.
  • Eat balanced meals and exercise.
  • Drink water and avoid sugary drinks.
